APPROPRIATING $94,705,63 FROM THE STATE OF TEXAS,
CRIMINAL JUSTICE DIVISION, IN THE NO, 1061 POLICE GRANTS
FUND FOR FUNDING AVAILABLE UNDER THE VIOLENCE AGAINST
WOMEN ACT (VAWA) FUND, TRANSFERRING $47,165.44 FROM THE
NO. 1020 CASH CONTRIBUTION TO GRANT AND APPROPRIATING
IT IN THE NO. 1061 POLICE GRANTS FUND AS GRANT MATCHING
FUNDS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. That $94,705.63 is appropriated from the State of Texas, Criminal
Justice Division, in the No. 1061 Police Grants Fund for funding available under the
Violence Against Women Act (VAWA) Fund, transferring $47,165.44 from the No.
1020 Cash contribution to grant and appropriating it in the No. 1061 Police Grants
Fund as grant matching funds, and declaring an emergency.
SECTION 2. That upon written request of the Mayor or five Council Members, the
City Council (1) finds and declares an emergency due to the need for immediate
action for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs; and, (2) suspends
that Charter rule which requires an ordinance to be considered and voted upon at two
regular meetings, so that this ordinance is passed and takes effect as an emergency
measure upon its first reading, this the l'e""- day of October, 2011.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance an
emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and
voting upon ordinances at two regular meetings: I/we, therefore, request that you
suspend said Charter rule and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is introduced, or
at the present meeting of the City Council.
