HomeMy WebLinkAbout029665 RES - 10/30/2012Resolution by the City Council of the City Corpus Christi supporting the Corpus Christi Air Quality Groups participation in the EPA Ozone Advance Program to promote local actions to reduce ozone precursors in the community and continue to maintain National Ambient Air Quality Standards for ozone. Whereas, the City of Corpus Christi has been a stakeholder in the Corpus Christi Urbanized Area air reduction agreements; and Whereas, the "Air Shed" stakeholders and entities represented in the Corpus Christi Air Quality Group, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ), and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) have worked together to plan and implement voluntary actions appropriate to community needs to improve air quality through common sense strategies that reflect the weather, driving habits, and economy or the region; and Whereas, the Corpus Christi Air Quality Group proposed a voluntary response to the federal policy authorizing an 8 Hour 03 FLEX program, and Whereas, An 8 Hour O3FIex agreement for Nueces and San Patricio Counties was developed by the Corpus Christi Air Quality Group, and was approved by all parties on October 23, 2007; and Whereas, the 8 Hour O3FLEX agreement expires at the end of 2012; and Whereas, the Environmental Protection Agency is replacing the 8 Hour O3FLEX agreement with a new voluntary program call Ozone Advance; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED: That, the City Council of the City Corpus Christi supports the Corpus Christi Air Quality Group's participation in the EPA Ozone Advance Program to promote local actions to reduce ozone precursors in the community and continue to maintain National Ambient Air Quality Standards for ozone.
