Resolution amending City Council policies for City board, committee, and
commission appointment recommendations.
Be it resolved by the City Council for the City of Corpus Christi, Texas:
Section 1. That Section 14.1 of the City Council policies regarding City board, committee, and
commission appointment recommendations, is revised to read as follows, with the new
language indicated by underlined text:
"14. Boards, commissions, and committee procedures.
All individuals considered for appointment by the City Council to a Board,
Commission, or Committee must have a resume or biographical information sketch on
file in the office of the City Secretary. All vacancies must be listed on a City Council
agenda in order for appointments to be made. Any Council Member can nominate
persons to fill vacancies, except where the law requires nomination by the Mayor or City
Manager. Each appointment must receive a majority vote of the Council Members
present and voting. No person shall be appointed by the Mayor or Council Members to
serve on more than one board, commission, committee or corporation at the same time
unless required by charter, statute, or other ordinance or when such service is required
by virtue of the individual's position or title as the result of employment or when such
appointment involves the Mayor or Council Members.
The following rules and procedures will govern standing City Boards,
Commissions, and Committees:
I. Recommendations for appointments will be solicited from the affected
Boards, Commissions, and Committees only for the following:
City Council Youth Advisory Committee;
Commission on Children & Youth;
Committee for Persons with Disabilities;
Community Youth Development (78415);
Food Service Advisory Committee;
Leadership Committee for Senior Services;
Oil & Gas Advisory Committee;
Retired and Senior Volunteer Program Advisory Committee;
INDEXED
Senior Companion Program Advisory Committee; and
Tree Advisory Committee.
