HomeMy WebLinkAbout029971 RES - 10/15/2013Resolution in support of the City of Corpus Christi (City) becoming a Federal Transit Administration (FTA) grantee and authorizing the City Manager or designee to file documentation necessary for the City to achieve FTA grantee status; and authorizing the City Manager or designee to execute an agreement with the Corpus Christi Regional Transit Authority and the Corpus Christi Metropolitan Planning Organization to provide for transportation grant coordination. WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi (City) desires to pursue federal funding to support pedestrian — transit access, ADA, safety, and other improvements within downtown and the Sports SEA District; and, WHEREAS, the voters in November, 2012 approved, and the City adopted, municipal bond programs to improve infrastructure throughout the City; and, WHEREAS, the City desires to utilize local bond proceeds and other local support to leverage maximum federal funding to expand the City's ability to implement infrastructure improvements; and, WHEREAS, the Corpus Christi Regional Transit Authority (RTA) and Corpus Christi Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) support the City's pursuit of FTA grantee status; and, WHEREAS, this designation will result in the City being eligible to receive direct Federal Transit Administration (FTA) and other federal funding to support the design and development of infrastructure improvements to support accessibility, safety and potential economic development; and WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi desires to become a FTA grantee; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1. The City Manager is authorized to execute and file all necessary documentation and information to enable the City to become an FTA grantee. SECTION 2. The City Manager or designee is authorized to execute an agreement with the Corpus Christi Regional Transit Authority and the Corpus Christi Metropolitan Planning Organization to provide for transportation grant coordination. SECTION 3.This Resolution shall be in full force and take effect from and after its passage and adoption.
