PROCEED REGARDING AN INDUSTRIAL SEAWATER DESALINATION FACILITY ECONOMIC
FEASIBILITY STUDY IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED $50,000,WHICH IS WITHIN THE CITY
MANAGER'S CONTRACT EXECUTION AUTHORITY.
Whereas,the City of Corpus Christi is the owner and operator of the Coastal Bend Region Water
System for a five county region from the City of Rockport south to the City of Kingsville with the
City of Corpus Christi and the industrial customers being its largest customers;
Whereas, while there are sufficient surface water supplies to meet current needs, the
persistent drought coupled with the rapid growth underscores the need for creative planning
and implementation of a drought-proof supply to improve reliability;
Whereas, the City of Corpus Christi with its customers recognize that between Nueces and San
Patricio County there is the potential for new industrial businesses with significant water
demands; and
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
Section 1. The City Manager's execution of a Letter of Intent to Proceed regarding an Industrial
Seawater Desalination Facility Economic Feasibility Study with the Corpus Christi Regional
Economic Development Corporation, the San Patricio Municipal Water District, and the Port
Industries of Corpus Christi, is hereby endorsed, in an amount not to exceed $50,000, which is
within the City Manager's contract execution authority.

for the current fiscal year's portion of the contract, agreement, obligation or expenditure described
below is in the Treasury to the credit of the Fund specified below, from which it is to be drawn, and has
not been appropriated for any other purpose. Future payments are subject to annual appropriation
by the City Council.
