HomeMy WebLinkAbout030974 ORD - 09/27/2016 Ordinance Amending Section 39-309 of the Corpus Christi Code of Ordinances to change employee contribution for health plan coverage and remove Citicare Premium Plan; and providing for severance and an effective date. BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, THAT: SECTION 1. Chapter 39, Section 309 Coverage under the city's group health plan for eligible employees and members of the city council, is amended as follows: Sec. 39-309. - Coverage under the city's group health plan for eligible employees and members of the city council. (a) Full-time employees are eligible for group health plan coverage as defined by the city manager and, where elected, shall contribute an amount not to exceed 9.5% of the federal poverty line for a single individual for the applicable calendar year. - •- -••: e -- •-e- • . _e - • • -- es _ _•e for employees selecting Citicare. - - (1) Part time employees routinely assigned to work twenty five (25) or more base hours per seven -- - - e - -• - - e e • •e e ' -e- , !' - e- .- -- - in the city's group health insurance plan as of July 31, 2008 are eligible for group health plan for employee only coverage, if such coverage is elected. (3) Part time employees, other than as provided in subsection (a)(1)above, are not eligible for group health plan coverage. (b) Full-time employees shall contribute fifty (50) per cent of the cost for dependent group health plan coverage for Citicare, if such coverage is elected. For full time employees selecting Citicare Premium the employee cost will be the total premium cost minus a city contribution equal to the amount the city contributes for employees selecting Citicare. (1) Part time employees, eligible to participate in the group health plan as provided in subsection (a)(1) above, shall contribute seventy five (75) per cent of the cost of dependent group health (c) Members of the city council and their dependents are eligible for the city's group health plan coverage, and where elected, shall contribute at the same rate as full-time employees for the cost of such coverage. SECTION 2. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance. For it is the definite intent of this City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose.
