Ordinance amending Chapter 39 of the Corpus Christi Code of Ordinances to revise
Article III. - EMPLOYEE COMPENSATION AND CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM;
providing for severance, publication, penalty, and an effective date.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF CORPUS
CHRISTI, TEXAS THAT:
SECTION 1. Chapter 39 of the Corpus Christi Code of Ordinances is amended by revising
Article III — EMPLOYEE COMPENSATION AND CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM, as follows:
ARTICLE III — EMPLOYEE COMPENSATION AND CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM
Sec. 39-309. - Coverage under the city's group health plan for eligible employees
and members of the city council.
(a) Full-time employees are eligible for group health plan coverage as defined by
the city manager and, where elected, shall contribute an amount not to exceed
nine and one-half(9.5) per cent of the federal poverty line for a single individual
for the applicable calendar year.
(b) Full-time employees shall contribute fifty-(-68) seventy-five (75) per cent of the
cost for dependent group health plan coverage for Citicare, if such coverage
is elected.
(c) Members of the city council and their dependents are eligible for the city's
group health plan coverage, and where elected, shall contribute at the same
rate as full-time employees for the cost of such coverage.

SECTION 2. If for any reason any section paragraph subdivision clause phrase word or
provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of a
court of competent jurisdiction it shall not affect any other section, paragraph, subdivision,
clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance for it is the definite intent of this City
Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision
hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose.
SECTION 3. Publication shall be made one time in the official publication of the City of
Corpus Christi as required by the City Charter of the City of Corpus Christi.
SECTION 4. Penalties are as provided in Section 1-6 of the Code of Ordinances.
