28. A request to extend the deadline for opening of a second
floating barge restaurant be approved to December 31, 1983
from the current date of June 1, 1983. The Nueces Landing
Company, which has requested an extension to June 1, 1984,
has encountered difficulties in acquiring a used barge for
the project, and now anticipates having a new hull and
superstructure built for the restaurant. Because
construction of the vessel can be substantially accomplished
in 90 to 120 days, and because this request represents the
second extension of time since the original concept was
approved by the City Council in 1981, the staff recommends a
seven month extension rather than the one year time period.
