CONTRACT FOR PROFESSIONAL SERVICES, EXHIBIT "A", SECTION 1. SCOPE OF SERVICES, PART A. BASIC
SERVICES, ITEM NO. 4 CONSTRUCTION PHASE shall be amended to include:
Up River Road - from IH 37 to Leopard Street (Prolect No. 6141) - Additional work is required because of an
additional request from the Water Department to enhance the reliability of existing feeds to critical refineries. These
improvements are for the 24" water transmission main which service the refineries in the area. In addition, waterline
route changes were required to avoid conflicts with existing utilities, which requires additional bends, fittings and
additional length of pipe for 8", 12" 16", and 24"
Aisc included in this additional work is the extension of street reconstruclion and 2" overlay from Leopard Street
through Nueces Bay Boulevard approximately 11,000 square yards This area was not within the original project
scope, but was added to rehabilitate and maintain the integrity of this area. If this pavement reconstruction would not
be performed, severe asphalt failure would occur in the near future. With this additional street reconstruction, Up River
Road will be completely reconstructed from IH 37 through Nueces Bay Boulevard.
Avers Street - from SPID to Port Avenue (Project No. 6142) - During the construction activities to date, multiple
changes have been made. Many of these changes were departmental driven from the Water and Wastewater
Departments. In several cases, the improvements were extended beyond the original construction limits as requested
by the City. These changes required additional engineering during the construction phase.
Aisc included in this additional work is the extension of street reconstruction from the Port/Ayers intersection to Home
Road. This area was not within the original project scope, but was added to rehabilitate and maintain the integrity of
this area. Street reconstruction and overlay for this area was approximately 78,000 square yards. An additional 8,100
linear feel of 8" waterline was also included in this area. If this pavement reconstruction would not be performed,
severe asphalt failure would occur ~n the near future. With this additional street reconstruction, Ayers Street will be
completely reconstructed from S.P I.D. to Horne Road.
Gollihar Road - from Crosstown Expressway to Kostorvz Road (Project No. 6143) - During the construction
activities to date, multiple changes have been made. Many of these changes were departmental driven from the
Water & Wastewater Departments. A major conflict was with a 12" gas line approximately 12' deep. Contaminated soil
was also encountered in this area, and required a substantial amount of coordination between the Contractor, City,
engineer and an area Gas Station Changes included additional work to avoid conflicts with existing utilities for this
area These changes required additional engineering during the construction phase, which include additional Traffic
Control Plans and Coordination for nighttime work and closures to reduce construction impacts on the traveling public.

Please allow this letter to serve as our formal request to amend the above referenced project. ~nis amendment
includes the following:
Basic Services:

During the construction activities to date, multiple changes have been made. Many of these changes were
departmental driven from the Water & Wastewater Departments. In several cases, the improvements were extended
beyond the original construction limits as requested by the City. These changes required additional engineering
during the construction phase.
I. Up River Road
a. Construction Phase

engineering during the construction phase, which include additional Traffic Control Plans

Additional Services:

Because of the change in construction cost due to change orders, etc. the construction observation budget has been
adjusted.
