CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI
RATIFICATION & AMENDMENT NO.2
CONTRACT FOR PROFESSIONAL SERVICES
The City of Corpus Christl. Texas hereinafter called "City", and FREESE AND NICHOLS. INC.
hereinafter called "Engineer", agree to the following amendments to the Contract for
Professional Services for the Choke Canyon Dam Improvements as follows: Part 1: River
Outlet Works Repair (Concrete Damage Chute Repair and Buoy Line) (Project No. 8407); Part
2: Trash Rack Repair (Project No. 8408), High Level Alarm Installation (Project No. 8409),
Conduits Protective Coating (Project No. 8521); and Part 3: Spillway Radial Gates Repair
(Project No 8411) and Gate Hoist Protective Coating (Project No. 8520).

1 Section 1. SCOPE OF SERVICES, Paragraph A., ADDITIONAL SERVICES, shall be
modified by the ratification of additional services to authorize payment for Part 2: High
Level Alarm Installation Project No. 8409 as shown by Exhibit "A-3".
Section 4 FEE is amended by the revision of the Summary of Fees (Table 1) attached as
Exhibit'A.3 "
All other terms and conditions of the February 11, 2003 contract between the City and Engineer,
and of any amendments to that contract, which are not speCifically addressed herein shall
remain In full force and effect

AMENDMENT #2
Choke Canyon Dam
HIgh Level Alarm Installation (Project No. 8409)
I. 'COPE OF SERVICES
A. Additional Services
1. Provide system integration services for the SCADA improvements at Choke
Canyon Dam, consisting of gate position indicators, high level alarm, and door
alarm. These services shall include:
a) Replace existing gate position encoders for the 20-inch jet flow gate and the
two 50-inch gates from the control structure.
b) Provide redundant float switches to detect a high level alarm condition in the
control structure.
c) Design, fabricate and commission instrumentation panel for monitoring the
high level alarm condition and status of the 20-inch jet flow gate and the two
50-inch gates at the control structure. Instrumentation services will be
provided in conjunction with Automated Concepts, Inc. (ACI) as a
subconsultant to FNI
d) Provide redundant door alarm to supplement existing access alarm and
Improve security of the control structure. Integrate new alarm into level alarm
monitoring system.
e) Provide and commission radio link between control structure and Dam
Operations Office to enable remote monitoring of level alarm and gate status
monitoring system. Provide communications improvements at the Choke
Canyon Dam office complex consisting of installing directional antenna on
existing tower. providing coaxial cabling from antenna to surveillance system
equipment rack, and providing grounding accessories.
f) Integrate high level alarm signal with existing video camera to display alarm
signal on video surveillance system.
g) Provide web-based interface to remotely monitor alarm conditions and gate
status.
h) Provide record drawings of level alarm and gate status monitoring system.
B. City will provide firewall router to allow virtual private network (VPN) access to
the remote monitoring system for maintenance purposes and to allow connection
from the city's local area network to the monitoring system website.
