Existing Agreement: Voyage Solar System Agreement ("Agreement")between Exhibitology, LLC, and the City of Corpus Christi, a Texas home-rule municipal corporation, for the purchase of a Voyage Scale Model Solar System. 2. Amendment Number: 1 3. Description of Modification: To add an item to the deliverables list in Exhibit A, Section I, increasing the overall total value by $10,000: h. Modification of all 13 Voyage exhibition stanchions to include cover plates for installation using the "Above Grade Option" as described in the NCESSE doclunent titled "Installation Options for the Voyage Exhibition" (Exhibit D), though the cover plate will be sized appropriately to the twelve inch dimension limitation of the selected seawall mounting site for placement of the stanchions. To amend a portion of section 4 of the Agreement, titled `RICE, PAYMENT, METHOD OF PAYMENT AND TAXES," to account for the $10,000 increase of the overall total cost for the Voyage Solar System Exhibit, to read as follows: 4. PRICE, PAYMENT, METHOD OF PAYMENT AND TAXES. The total cost for the Voyage Solar System Exhibit is One Hundred Eighty Nine Thousand and Six Hundred Dollars $189,600 ("Total cost"). Client shall make payments as follows: a. 40% ($ 75,8401 ($71,840 was due by Seutember 30, 2008 and has already been timely paid b y the Cit v). ARMANOp CHAPA ~-gam carr sECRErnm~ Installation Options for the Voyage Exhibition Revised: July 29, 2008 { { V 0 YA G E Below Grade Option: The Voyage stanchions were originally designed ,,,~~.,,e,m,o~,~.o~„so:..ss,~.:~~ for installation in softscape areas with the base plate 3-inches below grade, and the base plate covered with mulch. This is the case for the installation on the National Mall in Washington, DC. The approach is detailed in Figure 1, which shows the surface of the footings below grade. Note the base plate floats above the footing surface due to the action of leveling nuts. The top of the concrete footing is located 3.5-inches below grade. Above Grade Option: There are, however, community sites for Voyage where the stanchions are to be placed in hardscape areas, which are surfaced with either pavers or concrete, and below grade installation is not an option. This is the case for the Kansas City installation. For above grade installation, the Voyage team had developed a workable solution which requires a modification to the design, including: 1) footings poured at grade, 2) a round rather than square base plate, 3) stanchions truncated by 3 inches at the bottom to ensure that the storyboards are maintained at their correct height as per ADA requirements when the stanchion is mounted at grade, and 4) an aesthetic round cover-plate that covers the base plate and the studs and nuts securing the base plate to the footing. The adopted design is provided in Figure 2. In the case of above grade installation, we strongly advise the Client NOT to install directly on top of existing concrete slab. It is not clear that the existing slab will provide the structural integrity required. Instead, the slab should be cut to allow pouring of the footing at grade, and the cover- plate will hide the cut in the concrete. This, however, requires the cut in the slab to be smaller than the cover-plate dimension. The estimated added cost for the exhibition installed above ground is 5% more than that for the below ground installation. General Installation Notes: • All installation specifications are provided in the attached drawings. • Installation hardware (anchor bolts, nuts, and washers) is not provided with the stanchions. Each stanchion requires the following hardware as specified on the attached drawings: • 4 stainless steel L-hook anchor bolts 1/2" -13 Thread, ]2" Length Thread length must be at least 2.5-inches for Below Grade option, and at least 2-inches for Above Grade option, so that the appropriate length of thread extends to the top of the concrete footing (see attached drawings.) An L-hook with these specifications is McMaster-Can Part #91615A230 (http://www.mcmaster.com). • 8 stainless steel I/2"-13 nuts, 3/4" width, 7/16" height 1 • 8 stainless steel 1/2" washers • It is strongly recommended that the nuts are spot welded to the anchor bolts so that someone with a wrench doesn't have the ability to walk off with a stanchion. • We estimate that the weight for the 8.5-foot tall and 3.67-foot tall stanchions are 110 lbs and 85 lbs respectively. • Receiving the shipment: for the 13 stanchion exhibition, the Client needs to be prepared to receive (likely) 3 crates 4'x3'x10' @ 1,000 lbs each; 1 crate 4'x3'x5' @ 800 lbs. Template for Bolt Holes and its Use: For both modes of installation, the Client will be provided a Template for the base plate holes so that the vendor constructing the footings can easily position the anchor bolts in the footing. The Template will likely be a square piece of 'h-inch thick plywood with four holes in a square pattern, with adjacent hales spaced 6.5-inches apart on center. This matches the bolt hole configuration for the stanchion base plate, with hole configurations identical for Above and Below Grade installations (see attached drawings.) An approach: • The contractor installing the concrete footings and stanchions can duplicate the Template to have one for each footing to be poured. • Attach the L-hooks with nuts and washers to each Template. • At each footing, push. the L-hooks into the wet concrete, but make sure to shim the Template so the specified amount of bolt length extends above the concrete. Also make sure that bolt studs are plumb and level. • After the concrete is dry, it is suggested that all Templates be left in place until the exhibition arrives, but covered with, or mazked by, a safety cone to prevent accident.
