TO CONTRACT FOR
PROFESSIONAL SERVICES
The City of Corpus Christi, Texas hereinafter called "CITY", and URBAN ENGINEERING, hereinafter called
"Consultant," agree to the following amendment to the Contract for Professional Services for
Infiltration/Inflow (I/11 Collection System Enhancement Proaram (Proiect No. 70251. as authorized and
administratively amended by:

revised fee not to exceed $48,640.00 (Forty Eight Thousand Six Hundred Forty Dollars and Zero Cents),
for a total restated fee not to exceed $2,451,484.05 (Two Million Four Hundred Fifty One Thousand Four
Hundred Eight Four Dollars and Five Cents).
All other terms and conditions of the January 20, 1998 contract and amendments between the City and
Consultant will remain in full force and effect.

Dear Pete:
We are pleased to submit to you a proposal to provide engineering services for the
design and construction of a segment of sanitary sewer in the Staples St. and McArd[e Rd.
intersection and for the design and construction administration for sanitary sewer improvements
for the Brooks Drive area. At Staples St. the existing segment of 8" sanitary sewer to be
replaced has broken pipe in several locations, a horizontal bend, and a sag. This project will
involve rehabilitating four sanitary sewer manholes near the intersection and resolving the issue
with the 8pgravity line by replacement in the existing location or designing a new route for
installation. The Brooks Drive work includes replacement of 3380 LF of 6" VCP by pipe
bursting.
The engineering services will include preparing plans and specifications in the City
format, review meetings with City staff, assist the City in obtaining/negotiating acost for the
Staples St. additional work to be included by change order, bidding the Brooks Drive work and
providing the construction administration. Services will also include coordinating tine locates of
existing utilities in the Staples St. intersection, providing a topographic survey, preparing a
temporary construction easement exhibit and preparing a traffic control plan.
We propose to perform the above services for a fee not to exceed $48,640 ($22,750
Staples St. + $25,890 Brooks Dr.}. A breakdown of proposed Staples St. services is attached. If
the above is acceptable, please prepare an AE Contract for signatures. Should you have any
questions please let me know.

DEFINITIONS
a. "Board member." A member of any board, commission, or committee appointed by the
City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas.
b. "Economic benefit". An action that is likely to affect an economic interest if it is likely to
have an effect on that interest that is distinguishable from its effect on members of the public
in general or a substantial segment thereof.
c. "Employee." Any person employed by the City of Corpus Christi, Texas either on a full or
part-time basis, but not as an independent contractor.
d. "Firm." Any entity operated for economic gain, whether professional, industrial or
commercial, and whether established to produce or deal with a product or service, including
but not limited to, entities operated in the form of sole proprietorship, as self-employed
person, partnership, corporation, joint stock company, joint venture, receivership or trust, and
