AMENDMENT N0.4
TO CONTRACT FOR
PROFESSIONAL SERVICES
The City of Corpus Christi, hereinafter called "CITY" and HDR ENGINEERING, INC. hereinafter called
"CONSULTANT", agree to the following amendmen# to the Contract for Professional Services for Airline Road
from Sarato a Boulevard to Rodd Field Road Pro'ect No. 0465 as authorized and amended by:

In the original contract, Section I. SCOPE OF PROJECT, shall be amended to include the following scope for the
design of additional project elements for inclusion into the construction documents:
Prepare construction plans for roadway improvements at the intersection of Yorktown Boulevard and Rodd f=ield
Road, and the abandonment of Airline Road between Rodd Field and Yorktown. Construction plans shall include
pavement widening, signage and striping, TCP for a single construction sequencing option {construction in half-
widths}, SWPPP, and flexible pavement section, and extending the existing 36-inch diameter culvert, and safe#y
lighting.
In the original contract, Section II. SCOPE OF SERVICES, shall be amended to expand Basic Services (Design,
Bid and Construe#ion Phase Services} and Addi#ional Services (Construction Observation Services) as shown on the
attached Amendment No. 4 Exhibit "A" and Amendment Ne. 4 Exhibit "B".
In the original contract, Section V. FEES, shall be modified as shown on the attached Amendment No. 4 Exhibit "B"
for a revised fee not to exceed $104,019 (One Hundred Four Thousand Nineteen Dollars and Zero Centeh far a
total restated fee npt to exceed ~1~296,316 {One Million Two Hundred Ninety-Six Thousand_Three Hundred
Sixteen Dollars and Zera,Cents).
Ail other terms and conditions of the March 31, 2009 con#ract, as amended, between the City and Consul#ant will
remain in full force and effect.

Please rind attached Amendment No. 4 for the abovententiatted project. This amendment includes additional
engineering se.t•vices for itnprovotnents at the Yorktown Blvd. l Radd Field Rd. intersection. Tltc intent of
this amendment is to upgrade the existing intersec#ion attd obliterate existing Airline Road wlticlt currernly
connects Radd Field Road to Yorktown Blvd, as well as remove the right turn access lane from Rodd Field
,[toad to Yorktown Blvd. Anew alignment for a standard rural intersactiary including sigttage For "all-way
stops" will improve vehiculat• tt.trttings tnavements. This~itttcrsection will he bid.as part of the Airline Road
itnprovetnent construction dcicutnettts.
It is assumed that drainage will be accottttnadaled in roadside ditches and a new underground storm server
system will trot be required. Impravetitents will also include MIS conduits far potential :Future signalized
traffic signali~ation. (Traffic signdlizatiatt is riot included in this amendtncnt.} Improvements to atlter
Eutdetground utilities and sidewalks arc not included in this amendment. We anticipate that 15 construction
plan sheets will be reslttired to complete this effort, tint including using other ty. pica[ standard details shoe#s
ah-eady generated as part aF the original contract. These flan sheets will be included at the end of the
construction plan set as an.Additive Alternative, and-plan sheetnumUers will follow sequentially at the end of
the construction flan set.
HUIZ will coordinate with Mr. Bart 13t~selton and Mr. Regan frown to determine the layout oftlte southern
terminus at• the project, which will extend up to 100 feet south of the intersection.
It is our understanding that tltc western leg along Yorktown Blvd. will interface with improvctnettts being
designed by~Freese attd Nichols. 'fhe interface point will be approximately 150 feet west of the Rodd Field
!toad centerline. Tltis will allow for elevation transitions fratn.the curb and gutter section to a rural road
section.

DEFINITIONS
a. "Board member." A member of any board, commission, or committee appointed by the
City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas.
b. "Economic benefit". An action that is likely to affect an economic interest if it is likely to
have an effect on that interest that is distinguishable from its effect on members of the public
in general or a substantial segment thereof.
a, "Employee." Any person employed by the City of Corpus Christi, Texas either on a full or
part-time basis, but not as an independent contractor.
d. "Firm." Any entity operated far economic gain, whether professional, industrial or
commercial, and whether established to produce or deal with a product or service, including
but not limited to, entities operated in the form of sale proprietorship, as self-employed
person, partnership, corporation, joint stock company, joint venture, receivership or trust, and
entities which for purposes of taxation are treated as non-profit organizations.
e. "Official." The Mayor, members of the City Council, City Manager, Deputy City
Manager, Assistant City Managers, Department and Division Heads, and Municipal Court
