(If left off the plans and specifications, explain why) During the installation of the cooling towers at the American Back Center, it was discovered that the metal deck and the ceiling below the raof_system had failed due to years of rain leaking into the ceiling space. Safety precautions were implemented it was determined that the ceiling system would have to be removed, structure repaired and painted, fireproofing reinstalled, new drain systerp„installed, ar~d new lighting system installed. This change order includes all demolition and new work for a repaired structure. How can similar changes be avoided in the future? This change order cou_Id only have been avoided if destructive testing of t_he ceiling was conducted and the damage structure was revealed prior to assembling the contract documents. A. The installation includes repair of the structure with fireproofing, installation of a new ceiling system (submitted with proposal), the replacement ofthe lighting systems {submitted with proposal}, and the replacement and repair of the roof drain system. This includes a complete repair of all systems associated with the structure repair. Please provide a cast proposal for the work. If the pricing is acceptable, we will forward these documents for the City of Corpus Christi to review and determine if they want to proceed with the work. If they agree to the amount and work involved the City will issue a change order to your Contract.
