SafeNet and JEC Architects along the North Park Road entrance and upper Parking Lot have failed due mainly to soil erosion issues. These sidewalks, pavement and curb/gutter must be replaced and supported in a proper manner with the correct sub base materials. Additionally, a large portion, of the Concrete Apron surrounding the Skate Park Structure has either failed ;arid or will fail in the near future due .to soil erosion issues over time. At least 60 of the pUlmeter concrete apron supported by soil has eroded and receded away from the struct . ure, leaving the concrete apron cantilevering in space. A good percentage of the surrounding apron has already cracked and pulled a%vay from the main structural "bowl" of the Skate Park Structure and -must be replaced. JEC Architects and our Civil Engineer have soludons to these issues and will need to engineer and dooument new sidewalk details,..pavmeat sections curb/gutter sections and multiple repairs and replacement docurnentationfor the Skate Park perimeter concrete apron. Generally, the broken/cracked sidewalks along the North Entrance will be removed. Additionally, We- will consider a shallow turn down beam on the downhill side of Lhese walks to resist die tendency of the walks to slide.downhffl. 'Me existing slope along this North drive entrance is very steep ioward. the Ray: The issues of soil erosion surrounding the Skate Park will b addressed first by.pumping in a Plowable grout fill under all cantilevered concrete apron, areas as we have specified in areas for the Cole Park- Shoreline Restoration Project. The areas of broken concrete aprons will be replaced with new reinforced concrete doweled into the "bowl" structure, Additional fill material will, be. added to all steep slqpes to lessen it" slope to a.3 in I pitch. This will greatly decrease the erosion due to current steep slopes nrr the higher ends .of the Skate Park 'b w Currently, the Scope of Cole Park Renovations by Sa%Net does include irrigation, landscaping and. . kydroseeding of the surrounding was of the Skate, Park. Slight adjustments may be required in layouts. We have discussed these general issues and solutions with Mir. Ken Williams of SaffdNet Services. One issue of documentation will. be the lack of topographic survey data immediately adjacent to the Skate Park. since fl-iis was not part of the originai. Scope of Work- for JEC Architects and Capnor USA, With regard to tile regrading of the. slopes. surrounding the Skate Park,. we can. either contract with Capnor USA to provide the topo data to help us establish the exact volumes of fill material required. or we can request. of SftfeNe-t Services to P rox 'ide M . i nil mal . ffade shots to establish relative elevations. From. this data, SafeNet.has indicated that they can esti . matethe quantities of fill material and flowable but fill required fora Lump Sum change order to the contract.
