E. Director of Capital Programs City of Corpus Christi P.O. Box 9277 Corpus Christi, Texas 78469 Subject: Staples Street Pumping Plant New 10 MGD Pumps - Project No. E12004 Proposed Amendment No.3 Dear Jeff: This letter is further to the June 11, 2015 coordination meeting and a request by City staff to review the current scope of services, for the above subject project. We have reviewed the scope of work outlined in the original contract and the two (2) executed amendments. We have also discussed the project with our sub-consultant Bath Engineering and offer the following with respect to the current scope of services. We believe that the current scope of work does not include an assessment of various pump combinations to satisfy the newly determined firm capacity of 13.75 MGD. We also believe that since we have already submitted a 50% complete set of plans to the City, that a certain amount of rework will be required to get the project back to a level of 50% complete, once we have incorporated the recommended pumps into the design. We propose to proceed with the preliminary phase scope of work as noted below, to determine and recommend a pump combination at a fee of$8,700. Once we have an approved pump combination we propose to re-assess and complete the previous design phase work. The fee to complete the design phase re-work will be negotiated once the City has approved the proposed pump combination. Preliminary Phase: To determine a pump combination to satisfy the firm capacity we propose to undertake the following preliminary phase tasks; • Coordinate/meet with the COCC to re-start the project, obtain background information and to discuss the recommendations. • Review the Modeling Support for the Staples Street Pumping Plant - System Curves, prepared by LNV(March 2014) and coordinate with LNV as required. • Review the Field Test Reports on Staples Pump #1 and #2, prepared by Smith Pump Company, Inc. (March 2013) and coordinate with Smith Pumps as required. • After completing the above task coordinate with Fairbanks Morse to determine if the existing pump impellers can be matched to existing/proposed system curves. • Review the Alternative Capacity Power Generation Report, prepared by Bath Engineering and coordinate with Bath as required. NO. 3 EXHIBIT"A" Page 1 of 2 • • Coordinate with pump manufacture(s) (Peerless, Flowserve, etc.) to obtain pump performance curves for the proposed pumps (e.g. 5-MGD, 7.5- MGD, or other size as required) being assessed. • Assess the existing pump curves and proposed pump performance curves in conjunction with the system curves. • Estimate the following costs o Refurbish the existing 5-MGD pumps (i.e. replace the existing impellers to meet the existing and proposed system conditions), existing soft starters remain and one new 7.5 MGD with VFD to supplement flow to meet 13.75-MGD. o Replace the existing 5-MGD pumps with two (2) new 5-MGD pumps, existing soft starts remain and one new 7.5 MGD with VFD to supplement flow to meet 13.75-MGD o Upgrade the pumping station with four(4) 5-MGD pumps with VFDs. o Upgrade the pumping station with three (3) 7.5-MGD pumps with VFDs • Prepare a letter recommending the pump combination. Project Schedule: Once we receive the notice to proceed we propose to complete the design per the following schedule.
