Director of Capital Programs City of Corpus Christi P.O. Box 9277 Corpus Christi, Texas 78469-9277 RE: Contract Amendment No. 1 McBride Lift Station & Force Main Project City of Corpus Christi Project No. E14054 CRG Project No. 20908c Dear Mr. Edmonds, We were recently requested to prepare an amendment to the referenced contract to modify our Engineering Letter Report to include two alternate designs for modifying the discharging wastewater from the McBride Lift Station. This Amendment also contains additional subcontractor fees associated with a supplemental geotechnical investigation which we feel is necessary in order to better identify existing soil conditions at the proposed lift station site and boring bit locations. The first alternate would include a study of efforts to be involved in rerouting the force main from the McBride Lift Station to the Broadway Wastewater Treatment Plant. Currently the McBride Lift Station force main discharges into a gravity manhole which ultimately ends up at the Greenwood WWTP. The current gravity line which receives the flows from the McBride Lift Station was flagged as a Capacity Constraint by the Hydraulic Modeling Report. The intent of this additional study is to determine if rerouting the force main to the Broadway WWTP is a more viable option than upsizing the gravity line which currently receives the McBride Lift Station flows. The second alternate would include a study of efforts which would be involved in construction of an in-system wet weather storage tank in the vicinity of the current McBride Lift Station outfall. The study would determine if a storage tank could be adequately sized large enough to eliminate the current Capacity Constraint identified by the Hydraulic Modeling Report. AMEND. NO. 1 EXHIBIT"A" Page 1 of 4 . • • We propose to perform the following services: AMENDMENT SCOPE: McBride Lift Station Force Main Re-Route to Broadway Plant Study: 1. Investigate multiple routes for proposed force main and recommend best route. 2. Preliminary research for required land acquisition and easements. 3. Perform preliminary design efforts to adequately size the proposed force main. 4. Perform preliminary design efforts to adequately upgrade the existing McBride Lift Station. 5. Discuss the impact of the additional flows on the capacity of the Broadway Wastewater Treatment Plant. 6. Prepare a Preliminary Opinion of Probable Cost for the construction cost of the proposed force main reroute which will include upsizing the McBride Lift Station. 7. Incorporate findings into the Engineering Letter Report for the McBride Lift Station. McBride Lift Station In-System Wet Weather Storage Tank Study: 1. Investigate adding an in-system wet weather storage tank in the vicinity of the outfall manhole for the McBride Lift Station force main. 2. Preliminary research for required land acquisition and easements necessary to facilitate the proposed detention tank. 3. Perform preliminary design efforts to adequately size the proposed detention tank. 4. Use Hydraulic Model to verify that proposed in-system wet weather storage tank eliminates overflows and capacity constraints in the vicinity of the McBride Lift Station force main outfall during design storm conditions. 5. Prepare a Preliminary Opinion of Probable Cost for the construction cost of the proposed in- system wet weather storage tank. 6. Incorporate findings into the Engineering Letter Report for the McBride Lift Station. Supplemental Geotechnical Investigation: 1. Review of the existing Geotechnical Investigation Dated June 26, 2009 was deemed to be inadequate as the boring depths were not deep enough for the proposed improvements. 2. Provide additional boring to depths adequate for the improvement associated with this project at the lift station site and boring bit locations. 3. Incorporate findings into the Engineering Letter Report for the McBride Lift Station. 4. A fee proposal from Rock Engineering to perform the additional borings as indicated can be viewed in Attachment "C". AMEND. NO. 1 EXHIBIT"A" Page 2 of 4 FEES The total amount of this Amendment is $49,655 as shown in the summary on Attachment "A". The man-hour fee analysis for the Amendment is shown in Attachment "B". The Rock Engineering proposal for supplemental geotechnical subsurface investigation can be viewed on Attachment "C".
