RE: Yorktown Boulevard—Lake Travis to Everhart(Bond 2014)
City Project No. E13093
Amendment No. 2– Re-Design Pavement Rehabilitation and Utilities Scope Reduction
Dear Mr. Edmonds:
Please allow this letter to serve as our formal request to amend our Contract for the above referenced
project to include the Additional Services as described below.
The 100% pre-final design for this project was completed in March 2016. It consists of improvements to
the above referenced segment of Yorktown Boulevard including complete street reconstruction and
associated utility and storm water improvements.
Subsequently, City staff elected to re-design this street in an effort to reduce construction costs. This
scope and fee proposal includes professional services required to revise the plans, specifications and
estimate(PS&E) documents to reduce the scope of pavement reconstruction work, and eliminate the
utility and storm water upgrades as described below:
BASIS OF DESIGN
1. Street pavement improvements will be limited to cement-stabilizing the existing base material
and laying new HMAC surface course, as specified in the geotechnical report supplement. As
stated by the geotechnical consultant during discussions with City staff, this limited paving
rehabilitation will not provide a 30-year(or even a 20-year)pavement design life as the
original full-depth reconstruction pavement design. This pavement section is an interim
solution until funds are available for full-depth pavement reconstruction. No concrete
pavement option will be included.
2. Existing curb &gutters to remain in place to the extent possible. Only short sections of
severely rolled C&G will be replaced. No changes to the existing C&G grades will be made.
3. Existing sidewalks to remain in place to the extent possible. Proposed minor sidewalk and
curb ramp improvements to remain as previously designed.
4. Existing curb inlets to remain in place to the extent possible.
5. No improvements to existing storm water mains or laterals.
6. No waterline improvements.
7. No wastewater improvements.
8. Proposed MIS/ IT conduit to remain at same location as previously designed.
9. Proposed street lighting conduit to remain at same location as previously designed.
