AMENDMENT NO. 8
CONTRACT FOR PROFESSIONAL SERVICES
The City of Corpus Christi, Texas, hereinafter called "CITY, and Freese and Nichols, Inc. hereinafter
called "ENGINEER," agree to the following amendment to the Contract for Professional Services for
South Staples Street from Brawner Parkway to Kostorvz Road(Bond 2012) (Project No. E12095)
as authorized and administratively amended by:
Original Contract January 29, 2013 Motion No. M2013-017 $731,030.00
Amendment No. 1 July 11, 2014 Administrative Approval $49,537.00
Amendment No. 2 January 23, 2015 Administrative Approval $39,154.00
Amendment No. 3 April 25, 2016 Administrative Approval $37,454.00
Amendment No. 4 October 13, 2016 Administrative Approval $49,883.00
Amendment No. 5 November 28, 2017 Administrative Approval $42,769.00
Amendment No. 6 March 23, 2018 Administrative Approval $49,951.00
Amendment No. 7 April 11, 2018 Administrative Approval $14,887.00
In the Original Contract, Exhibit "A", Section I. Scope of Services shall be amended as set forth in the
attached Amendment No. 8, Exhibit"A".
In the Original Contract, Exhibit "A", Section III. Fees shall be amended based on the modified scope
of services in the attached Amendment No. 8, Exhibit "A" for a fee not to exceed $35,955, for a total
restated fee not to exceed $1,050,620.
All other terms and conditions of the January 29, 2013 contract between the "CITY" and "ENGINEER"
and of any amendments to that contract which are not specifically addressed herein shall remain in full
force and effect.

Dear Mr. Edmonds,
At the request of your staff, Freese and Nichols, Inc. is pleased to submit our contract amendment#8 for
your consideration. Please note that this amendment provides for additional tasks completed for the
Construction Phase on the Staples Street project. The additional Construction Phase activities in this
proposal have been necessary due to additional traffic control design, utility conflicts encountered
during construction, requested efforts to design additional utilities, review RFI's,and participating in
additional meetings. Construction phase services were previously deleted by Amendment#4 to support
the redesign effort requested by the City. Amendment#6 partially restored the deleted construction
phase services. This amendment will include the following:
A. Basic Services:
1. Additional Construction Administration Phase
• Prepare revised traffic control drawings for Phase 1 of the project between Texan Trail
and Brawner Parkway. Meet with the City and contractor to discuss options.
• Provide additional meetings and design support for the lowering of an AEP duct bank
and City gas line in conflict with the proposed 54" storm water RCP. Participate in three
(3) meetings with AEP and City to develop options and alternatives for lowering the
utility lines. Prepare drawings and exhibits depicting the locations of existing and
proposed improvements.
• Provide additional coordination and design review for the relocation of AEP and AT&T
owned utility poles throughout the project. Prepare exhibits for AT&T to lower an
existing duct bank at the intersection of Texan Trail crossing Staples Street.
• Review additional submittals and RFI's related to property owner inquiries and
substitution requests by the contractor.
• Participate in six(6) additional meetings and six(6) additional site visits with the City
and contractor to support the construction phase.
