Justice for the FY 2020 Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental Funding Program in an
amount of $521,426.00 to fund overtime, equipment, and supplies related to the public
safety response to Coronavirus for the Police and Fire Departments; and appropriating
$260,731.00 in the Police Grants Fund and $260,695.00 in the Fire Grants Fund.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS:
SECTION 1. The City Manager or designee is authorized to execute all documents
necessary to accept a grant from the Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs
for the FY2020 Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental Funding Program, in the amount
of $521 ,426 for overtime, equipment, and supplies related to the public safety response
to the Coronavirus for the Police and Fire Departments
SECTION 2. That $260,731 is appropriated in the No. 1061 Police Grants Fund to be
used for overtime, equipment, and supplies related to the public safety response to the
Coronavirus for the Police Department.
SECTION 3. That $260,695 is appropriated in the No. 1062 Fire Grants Fund to be used
for overtime, equipment, and supplies related to the public safety response to the
Coronavirus for the Fire Department.
SECTION 4. Upon the written request of the Mayor or five Council members, copy
attached, the City Council finds and declares an emergency due to the need for immediate
action necessary for the efficient and effective administration of City affairs and suspends
the City Charter rule that requires consideration of and voting upon ordinances at two
regular meetings so that this ordinance is passed and takes effect upon first reading as
an emergency measure this 2nd day of June, 2020.

For the reasons set forth in the emergency clause of the foregoing ordinance, an
emergency exists requiring suspension of the Charter rule as to consideration and voting
upon ordinances at two regular meetings: I/we, therefore, request that you suspend said
Charter rule and pass this ordinance finally on the date it is introduced or at the present
meeting of the City Council.
