General Land Office for CDBG-MIT Hurricane Harvey State Mitigation
Competition funds for the North Beach Canal Project, and a Memorandum of
Understanding with Nueces County to provide for management of the grant
and City maintenance of the project.
Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas:
SECTION 1. The City Council authorizes submission of the joint application by Nueces
County and the City of Corpus Christi to the Texas General Land Office for CDBG-MIT
Hurricane Harvey State Mitigation Competition funds for the North Beach Canal project
and authorizes a Memorandum of Understanding to be executed between the City and
County, providing for management of the grant and City maintenance of the project.
SECTION 2. The North Beach Canal estimated project cost is $42.5 million.
SECTION 3. Nueces County will take the lead for a contractual relationship
with the General Land Office, subject to section 4 below.
SECTION 4: The City Manager or the City Manager's designee may apply for, accept,
reject, alter, or terminate the grant.
SECTION 5: Subject to the grant and the construction in accordance therewith, the City
will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of the project area upon project
completion, as evidenced by the GLO's acceptance of the final project completion report.
