HomeMy WebLinkAbout032205 ORD - 09/15/2020Ordinance ratifying the property tax increase reflected in the FY 2020- 2021 Operating Budget that will require raising more revenue from property taxes than in the FY 2019-2020 Operating Budget in amount of $755,027. Whereas, the City Council has, on the same date as and prior to its consideration and adoption of this Ordinance, adopted by separate Ordinance the budget of the City of Corpus Christi for the FY 2020 — 2021; and Whereas, the FY 2020 -2021 budget will require raising more revenue from property taxes than in the budget of the City of Corpus Christi for FY 2019- 2020; and Whereas, Section 102.007 (c) of the Texas Local Government Code provides that adoption of a budget that will require raising more revenue from property taxes than in the previous year does require a separate vote of the City Council to ratify the property tax increase reflected in the budget; and that a vote under this subsection is in addition to and separate from the vote to adopt the budget or a vote to set the tax rate; and Whereas, in order to comply with that provision, it is necessary for the City Council to adopt this Ordinance; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS: SECTION 1.
