HomeMy WebLinkAbout032354 DEC - 02/21/2021 ; , 'City Order prohibiting Charges in Excess of Regular7 -54444 ��• , , : Retail Prices ��( ) WHEREAS, on February 12, 2021, Governor Greg Abbott certified that severe winter weather posed an imminent threat of widespread and severe property damage, injury and loss of life due to prolonged freezing temperature, heavy snow and freezing rain statewide and declared a state of emergency for the entire state WHEREAS, the severe weather moved into the City of Corpus Christi and led to prolonged loss of electrical power, dangerous road surfaces, and unsafe infrastructure, threatening the safety and lives of all residents; WHEREAS, the Mayor of Corpus Christi has determined that extraordinary measure must be taken to minimize the potential negative effects of the weather event and protect the health and safety of the community; WHEREAS, the Mayor issued a Winter Weather Disaster Declaration on February 14. 2021; and WHEREAS, Pursuant to Chapter 415.108(b) of the Texas Government Code, the local state of disaster prompted by the winter weather emergency is in effect for a period of not more than seven days from the date of the February 14. 2021 declaration: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIIfD AND ORDERED BY IHE MAYOR OF THE C:ITY OF CORPfS CHRISTI: Section 1_ Under this Order, no person shall sell any of the following goods or services for :nore than the regular retail price the person charged for the goods and services on February 11, 2021, except where an increased retail price is the result of increased supplier or other cost (including the loss of supplier supportir g funds): a. Groceries, beverages_ toilet articles, and ice: b. Restaurant cafeteria, and boarding-house meals; c. Medicine, pharmaceutical and medical equipment, and supplies; d. Hotel rooms: motel rooms, or any other temporar-lodging available to the public; and e.
