AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER, OR HIS DESIGNEE, TO SUBMIT
A GRANT APPLICATION IN THE AMOUNT OF $256,634 TO THE U.S.
DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE, BUREAU OF JUSTICE ASSISTANCE
FOR FUNDING ELIGIBLE UNDER THE EDWARD BYRNE MEMORIAL
JUSTICE ASSISTANCE GRANT (JAG) PROGRAM FY 2009 LOCAL
SOLICITATION AWARD 50% OF THE FUNDS TO BE DISTRIBUTED
TO NUECES COUNTY UNDER THE ESTABLISHED INTERLOCAL
AGREEMENT. GRANT FUNDS WILL BE USED BY THE POLICE
DEPARTMENT TO UPGRADE 215 PUBLIC SAFETY RADIOS TO
PROJECT 25 COMPLIANCE, AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY
MANAGER, OR HIS DESIGNEE, TO APPLY FOR, ACCEPT, REJECT,
ALTER OR TERMINATE THE GRANT.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. The City Manager, or his designee, is authorized to submit a grant
application in the amount of $256,634 to the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of
Justice Assistance for funding eligible under the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice
Assistance Grant (JAG) Program FY 2009 Local Solicitation Award 50% of the funds to
be distributed to Nueces County under the established interlocal agreement. Grant
funds will be used by the Police Department to upgrade 215 public safety radios to
Project 25 compliance.
SECTION 2. The City Manager, or his designee, may apply for, accept, reject, agree to
alter the terms and conditions, or terminate the grant, if the grant is awarded to the City.
SECTION 3. In the event of the loss or misuse of these U.S. Department of Justice,
Bureau of Justice Assistance funds, the City of Corpus Christi assures that the funds
will be returned to the U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Assistance in full.
