Home My WebLink About032597 RES - 11/09/2021Resolution approving termination of the campaign treasurer appointments for inactive candidates and specific -purpose political committees in accordance with Section 2-7 of the City's Code of Ordinances. WHEREAS, Section 2-7 of the City's Code of Ordinances sets out the procedure to terminate the campaign treasurer appointments for inactive candidates and specific - purpose committees as allowed by Texas Election Code §252.0131; and WHEREAS, the City Secretary's Office has a compiled a list of candidates and specific -purpose committees that are inactive because they have filed a campaign treasurer appointment with the City Secretary in accordance with the Texas Election Code and more than two years have lapsed since the campaign treasurer for the specific - purpose political committee or the candidate has filed campaign finance reports with the City Secretary, which list is attached hereto as Exhibit A; and WHEREAS, the City Secretary provided written notice to the inactive candidates and specific -purpose political committees listed in the attached Exhibit A on October 26, 2021, which provided that City Council would consider the termination of their campaign treasurer appointments at the City Council meeting of November 9, 2021, which begins at 11:30 a.m. in City Council Chambers at City Hall and complied with all requirements of Code of Ordinances §2-7; and WHEREAS, the notice provided to the inactive candidates and specific -purpose political committees included the option to contact the City Secretary's Office to voluntarily terminate the campaign treasurer appointments by filing the final report as required by Texas Election Code or to re -activate the candidacy or specific -purpose political committee by providing all delinquent filings within seven days after receipt of the notice; and WHEREAS, the inactive candidates and specific -purpose committees listed in the attached Exhibit A have not filed the final report or the delinquent filings with the City Secretary's Office as of November 5, 2021. Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas: Section 1. The City Council specifically finds that the foregoing statements included in the preamble of this resolution are true and correct and adopts such findings for all intents and purposes related to the authorization of this resolution. Section 2.
