and Estuaries Program effective September 1, 2021.
WHEREAS, the Corpus Christi Bay National Estuary Program ("CCNEP")was established
in 1993 to develop a comprehensive plan to restore and protect the bays and estuaries in the
Coastal Bend Area;
WHEREAS, the CCNEP has evolved over time and is now known as the Coastal Bend
Bays and Estuaries Program ("CBBEP") and this organization administers the Costal Bend Bays
Plan which seeks to ensure that the Coastal Bend bays and estuaries remain a vibrant part of the
region's environmental and economic landscape through research, restoration and recreation
projects;
WHEREAS, the City has participated in an Interlocal Agreement with other municipalities,
counties and governmental entities in the Coastal Bend area for the last twenty (20) years, but
the term of this Interlocal Agreement expired in 2021;
WHEREAS, the CBBEP has presented the City with a new Interlocal Agreement, effective
September 1, 2021, with an annual term that will automatically renew each year for a period of
twenty (20) years unless the City provides notice to the CBBEP Board of its intent to withdraw
from the Agreement.
BE IS RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS THAT:
SECTION 1. The City Council hereby approves the Interlocal Agreement for the Coastal Bend
Bays and Estuaries Program effective September 1, 2021, and authorizes the City Manager, or
his designee to execute any and all documents necessary to implement the City's participation in
the CBBEP Interlocal Agreement.
SECTION 2. This resolution shall be effective immediately upon passage by the City Council.
