recommend candidates for the position of City Auditor.
WHEREAS, the current City Auditor position is being filled on an interim basis;
WHEREAS, the City's Code of Ordinances ("City Code"), Section 12'/2-8, requires
the City Council to appoint an ad hoc nominating committee ("Committee") to review and
recommend qualified candidates for appointment by the City Council to the position of
City Auditor;
WHEREAS, the City Code specifies that the five -person Committee consist of the
City Manager, three City Council members nominated by the City Council's Audit
Committee, and a resident of the City of Corpus Christi;
WHEREAS, the Committee, once formed, shall select a chairperson and vice -
chairperson for the conduct of its meetings;
WHEREAS, following the Committee's review of qualified applicants, the Com-
mittee shall select three qualified candidates by majority vote and forward the recom-
mendations to the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the City Council may select a qualified applicant from the three
recommendations for City Auditor provided by the Committee and may request that the
Committee review, consider, and recommend additional qualified applicants until the
position of City Auditor is filled.
Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, Texas:
Section 1. The City Council specifically finds that the foregoing statements included in
the preamble of this resolution are true and correct and adopts such findings for all intents
and purposes related to the appointment of the Committee.
Section 2. The City Council appoints the City Manager to the nominating Committee and
further selects and appoints Ed Bennett, CPA, CFE, a resident of the City of Corpus Christi,
to the Committee.
Section 3. The members of the City Council's Audit Committee shall nominate and select
three of its members to serve on the nominating Committee.
Section 4. The nominating Committee shall meet on dates and at times conducive to its
work, and the Committee is to remain active until the appointment of a City Auditor has
been made by the City Council, at which time the Committee is deemed dissolved without
any further action taken by the City Council.
