Council on March 22, 2022 in order to include language required by the Office
of the Governor, Public Safety Office to fulfill the State's requirement for the
City of Corpus Christi to be awarded eight grants under the State Homeland
Security Program in the amount of $481,580.42.
WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi finds it in the best interest of the citizens of Corpus
Christi that the Bomb Squad Portable Detection, Hazmat Response Enhancement, CCFD
Safety Enhancement, CCPD SWAT Enhancement, CCPD Detection System, and Bomb
Squad Safety Enhancement projects be operated for the year of 2022;
WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi agrees to provide applicable matching funds for the
said projects with the understanding that matching funds are not required by the Homeland
Security Grant Program grant application; and
WHEREAS, the City of Corpus Christi agrees that in the event of loss or misuse of the Public
Safety Office funds, the City of Corpus Christi assures that the funds will be returned to Public
Safety Office in full.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS:
SECTION 1. The City Council authorizes submission of grant applications to the Public Safety
Office for the following projects:
1. Airport Detection Equipment
2. Bomb Squad Enhancement
3. Incident Command Training Program
4. Airport Medical Response Enhancement
5. Hazmat Response Enhancement
6. CCPD SWAT Enhancement
7. Bomb Squad Disposal Trailer
8. CCPD SWAT Detection
SECTION 2. In the event of the loss or misuse of these funds, the City of Corpus Christi
assures that the funds will be returned to the State of Texas, Public Safety Office,
Homeland Security Grant Division in full.
SECTION 3. The City of Corpus Christi designates the City Manager, or designee, as the
grantee's authorized official. The authorized official is given the power to apply for, accept,
reject, alter or terminate the grant on behalf of the applicant agency.
