response rates" of the City Code and publication and an effective date.
WHEREAS, the Corpus Christi Code of Ordinances Chapter 18; Article II; Sec. 18-
20(b) Adjustment of ambulance rates, allows for the adjustment of ambulance rates based
on the South Region Consumer Price Index (CPI) for All Urban Consumers for Medical
Care as published by the Federal Bureau of Labor Statistics;
WHEREAS, any year in which the CPI increase by more than one percent from
the previous year, ambulance rates may be adjusted by an amount equal to the annual
change in the CPI;
WHEREAS, the ambulance rate schedule will be submitted to city council annually
for review and any adjustment of ambulance rates requires city council approval.
BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS THAT:
SECTION 1. Section 18-2 of the Corpus Christi City Code is hereby amended by adding
language that is underlined (added) and deleting the language that is stricken (deleted)
to the existing text as set forth below:
Sec. 18-2. Outside city limits fire departmentcngi-ne response rates.
Calls for Fire or EMS service outside the city limits shall be billed utilizing the following
schedule:'
{a) Firc calls. The fee for responding to outside city limits ("OCL") fire calls shall be
which do not involve providing assistance to thc U.S. Navy.
{b) First responder calls. The fec for medical emergencies requiring a "first responder"
emergency call location, in addition to any cmcrgcncy medical services fees which
responding to medical emergency calls which do not involve providing assistance to
thc U.S. Navy.

(d) Mileage
$0.585 per mile for each mile traveled by each unit dispatched to and from their
station.
SECTION 2. If for any reason any section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word
or provision of this ordinance shall be held invalid or unconstitutional by final judgment of
a court of competent jurisdiction, it shall not affect any other section, paragraph,
subdivision, clause, phrase, word or provision of this ordinance, for it is the definite intent
of this City Council that every section, paragraph, subdivision, clause, phrase, word or
provision hereof be given full force and effect for its purpose.
SECTION 3. Publication shall be made in the official publication of the City of Corpus
Christi as required by the City Charter of the City of Corpus Christi.
SECTION 4. This ordinance shall go into effect immediately upon publication.
