Epidemiology Capacity Expansion Grant for $204,856.00 from the Texas
Department of State Health Services (DSHS); and appropriating $204,856.00
of grant funds to conduct surveillance and epidemiology activities for the
period of September 1, 2023 through August 31, 2025; and authorizing one
grant position.
WHEREAS, Texas Department of State Health Services Grant Agreement
Contract No. HHS001315700015 (the "Contract") under the Texas Epidemiology
Capacity Expansion Grant Program is for Corpus Christi-Nueces County Public Health
District to conduct surveillance and epidemiology activities for all notifiable conditions
with an emphasis on certain conditions reported through the Texas National Electronic
Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS) in the State Fiscal Year (FY) 2024 and FY 2025.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, THAT:
SECTION 1. The City Manager or designee is authorized to execute all documents
necessary to accept a grant for $204,856.00 from the Texas Department of State Health
Services for the contract period September 1, 2023, through August 31, 2025 to conduct
surveillance and epidemiology activities for all notifiable conditions with an emphasis on
certain conditions reported through the Texas National Electronic Disease Surveillance
System (NEDSS).
SECTION 2. Grant funds in the amount of $204,856.00 are appropriated in the Health
Grants Fund No. 1066 to conduct surveillance and epidemiology activities for all notifiable
conditions with an emphasis on certain conditions reported through the Texas National
Electronic Disease Surveillance System (NEDSS).
SECTION 3. The City Manager or designee is authorized to execute any future
amendments to the Contract which extend the contract period or increase or decrease
the amount of the grant.
SECTION 4. A copy of the executed health grant contract and amendments shall be filed
in the office of the City Secretary.
