located at West Guth Park in Council District 1.
WHEREAS, on November 8, 2022, voters approved the City of Corpus Christi's
Bond 2022 Program, which included the full design of a Calallen police substation;
WHEREAS, the Corpus Christi Police Department has identified that the best
location for a Calallen police substation is within the northeast corner of West Guth Park,
based on the service area and the proximity to the highway;and
WHEREAS, a police substation constitutes a park use under Texas Parks and
Wildlife Code § 26.001.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS THAT:
SECTION 1. The City Council of the City of Corpus Christi, upon holding a public hearing,
finds that there is no feasible and prudent alternative to the use or taking of such land;
and the Calallen Police Substation project includes all reasonable planning to minimize
harm to the land, as a park, recreation area, scientific area, wildlife refuge, or historic site,
resulting from the use or taking.
SECTION 2. The proposed Calallen Police Substation is authorized to be located at West
Guth Park in Council District 1.
