Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) grant from the
Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management
Agency (FEMA) for the salary and benefits costs for 78 additional new
firefighters, in the amount of $16,359,579.25 for the Corpus Christi Fire
Department.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI,
TEXAS THAT:
S ECTION 1. The City Council authorizes the City Manager or designee to submit a grant
application to the Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management
Agency (FEMA) for the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER)
grant for a total of $16,359,579.25.
S ECTION 2. There is no City cash match or in -kind services for these grants.
S ECTION 3. The City Manager or designee may apply for, accept, reject, alter, or
terminate the grant.
S ECTION 4. The City of Corpus Christi designates the Fire Chief as the City's authorized
official. The authorized official is given the power to apply for, accept, reject, alter, or
terminate the funding on behalf of the applicant agency.
