Barnard City Manager Herbert W. Whitney J. R. de Leon City Attorney I. M. Singer W. J. Roberts City Secretary T. Ray Kring Jim Young Mayor Ben F. McDonald called the special meeting to order and announced the purpose of the meeting. City Secretary T. Ray Kring called the roll of those in attendance. Motion by Roberts, seconded by de Leon and passed that action with refer- ence to the minutes of the last regular meeting be deferred. ORDINANCE NO. 6241 CANVASSING RETURNS AND DECLARING THE RESULTS OF AN 1ff.FCTION FOR THE PURPOSE OF 1i47142( - MINING WHETHER OR NOT CERTAIN ADDITIONAL TERRITORY AS DESCRIBED IN ORDINANCE NO. 6206 ORDERING SUCH ELECTION, DATED JULY 12, 1961, SHALL BE ANNEXED TO THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. The Charter rule vas suspended by the following vote: Mayor McDonald, Commissioners Barnard, de Leon, Roberts and Young all voting "Aye", and Commissioners Swantner and Maldonado, absent. The foregoing ordinance vas passed by the following vote: Mayor McDonald, Commissioners Barnard, de Leon, Roberts and Young all voting "Aye", and Commissioners Swantner and Maldonado, absent. ORDINANCE N0. 6242 BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, RECEIVING INTO AND ANNEXING TO THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, CERTAIN ADDITIONAL TERRITORY, SOMETIMES REFERRED TO AS THE "FLOUR BLUFF"' AREA; FULLY DESCRIBING SAID TERRITORY AS AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS, AND DEFINING ITS LIMITS; AND DECLARING SAME AS ANNEXED TO AND MADE A PART OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS; AND DECLARING AN EMERGENCY. The Charter rule was suspended by the following vote: Mayor McDonald, Commissioners Barnard, de Leon, Roberts and Young all voting "Aye", and Commissioners Swantner and Maldonado, absent. The foregoing ordinance was passed by the following vote: Mayor McDonald, Commissioners Barnard, de Leon, Roberts and Young all voting "Ape", and Commissioners Swantner and Maldonado, absent. Motion by de Leon, seconded by Young and passed that the City Manager, City Attorney and other City officials be authorized to take whatever legal action may be necessary to protect the interests of the City of Corpus Christi in the event litiga- ,A• Special Council Meeting k sgxst 5, 1961 Page 2 tion regarding the newly annexed area makes such action imperative, and to take the necessary action to begin furnishing City Services to the citizens of such newly annexed area. There being no further business to come before the Council, the special meet- ing was adjourned.
