Mayor Ben F. McDonald called the meeting to order, and announced the purpose
of the special meeting.
City Secretary T. Ray Kring called the roll of those in attendance.
ORDINANCE NO. 6243
APPROPRIATING THE SUM OF $275.00 FOR FILING FEL AND DEPOSIT WITH THE STATE BOARD OF
WATER ENGINEERS AND AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER OF THE CITY OF CORPUS
CHRISTI TO CAUSE TO BE FILED WITH THE BOARD OF WATER ENGINEERS OF THE STATE OF TEXAS,
AN APPLICATION ON BEHALF OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI PRESENTING TO SAID BOARD THE
FACTS EXPRESSING THE DESIRE OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI TO INVESTIGATE THE FEASIBIL-
ITY OF WATER APPROPRIATION IN QUANTITIES GREATER THAN 20,000 ACRE FEET FOR THE PURPOSE
OF PROTECTING THE PRIORITY RIGHTS OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI UNDER ITS EXISTING PER-
MITS NOS. 51, 933, 1463, AND 1177, IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF SECTION 2,
CHAPTER 136, ACTS OF THE 39TH LEGISLATURE; AUTHORIZING AND DIRECTING THE CITY MANAGER
TO FILE SUCH OTHER AFFIDAVITS, STATERS, APPLICATIONS AND PETITIONS THAT MAY BE PROP-
ER AND NECESSARY TO PROCURE SUCH C DERS, AUTHORIZATION, PERMITS AND OTHER ACTION OF
AND FROM THE BOARD OF WATER ENGINEERS OF THE STATE OF TEXAS THAT MAY BE PROPER, NEC-
ESSARY AND LEGAL, AND IN COMPLIANCE WITH THE LAW AND CONSTITUTION OF THE STATE OF
TEXAS TO PERFECT THE RIGHT OF THE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI TO IMPOUND, DIVERT AND APPRO-
PRIATE WATERS FROM THE NUECES RIVER AND RESERVOIRS THEREON, AND TO BE CONSTRUCTED
THEREON, OF AND FOR TSE CITY OF CORPUS CHRISTI, ITS WATER WORKS SYSTEM AND DISTRIBU-
TEES OF THE WATER OF SUCH CITY AND OF THE WATER WORKS SYSTEM OF SAID CITY; AND DE-
CLARING AN EMERGENCY.
The Charter rule was suspended by the following vote: Mayor McDonald,
Commissioners Swantner, Barnard, de Leon, Roberts and Young all voting "Aye", and
Commissioner Maldonado, absent.
The foregoing ordinance was passed by the following vote: Mayor McDonald,
Commissioners Swantaer, Barnard, de Leon, Roberta and Young all voting "Aye", and
Commissioner Maldonado, absent.
There being no further business to come before the Council, the special
meeting was adjourned.
